AmeriCorps in Kentucky

Since 1994, more than 15,000 Kentuckians have served approximately 23 million hours through AmeriCorps, earning Segal AmeriCorps Education Awards totaling more than $57.2​​ million.​

Last completed program year, Kentucky AmeriCorps members recruited 3,729 volunteers who provided 36,162 hours of service to their communities, valued ​​at more than $1 million. Higher education institutions and other organizations in Kentucky have received more than $24.4 million in education award payments since 1994. ​

What is AmeriCorps?

AmeriCorps engages more than 75,000 Americans in intensive service each year at 21,600 unique sites including nonprofits, schools, public agencies, and community and faith-based groups across the country.

 

Nationally, since the program’s founding in 1994, more than 1 million AmeriCorps members have contributed more than 1.4 billion hours in service across America while tackling pressing problems and mobilizing more than 2.3 million volunteers for the organizations they serve.
